Passports
Requirements to obtain a passport:
In order to renew an expired passport, you should present the following:
- Expired passport.
- Ecuadorian identification card ("Cédula").
- Total cost for the passport is $110.00 (in cash or money order).
In order to apply for a new passport or replace one that was lost or stolen, you should present the following:
- Original Ecuadorian identification card ("Cédula"). This document should not be more than 12 years old; if you do not have the original "Cédula" you should request a certified copy from the Civil Registry in Ecuador called the "Tarjeta Indice."
- In this case, the Consulate needs to prepare a sworn statement regarding the loss of your passport. This document costs $20.00.
- Total cost for the passport is $110.00 (in cash or money order).

Important Notes:
- Your Ecuadorian birth certificate cannot be presented as a replacement for your Ecuadorian identification card ("Cédula") as neither the applicants picture or signature appears on this document.
- It is always necessary that you come personally to the Consulate in order to obtain a new passport.
- The new passports are ready in approximately 3-10 business days, when they are available to be picked up by the applicant. If interested, the applicant may bring a self-addressed, pre-paid envelope to the Consulate and the new passport can be mailed.
