Inmigrant Visas
VISA 10-I. Pensioner |
The Pensioner, 10-I Visa, can be granted to persons who receive a fixed monthly income, or have a fixed monthly income from retirement pensions or social security benefits for an amount that would permit them to live adequately together with their family. Consult with your nearest Consulate about this subject.
The requirements to obtain this visa are:
Alternatives:
1.-Retirement Pension
Documents to be presented:
- Certificate of income issued by the US Social Security and other private institution, notarized and legalized at the Consulate. (Cost US$ 40.00)
- Certification extended by the corresponding Consul of Ecuador, which determines the permanent income of pensions by the applicant.
2.-Constitution of a Trust Document
Documents to be presented:
- If the applicant has a determined amount of funds, must present a certificate of constitution of a trust, duly approved by the Consulting Council for Migratory Policy of Ecuador (Consejo Consultivo de Politica Migratoria del Ecuador).
3.-Cash Deposits Funds
Documents to be presented:
- If the applicant has a determined amount of funds, he can make a deposit of those funds at the Central -Bank of Ecuador or at an accredited institution determined by the Consulting Council for Migratory Policy of Ecuador.
- Receipt of the funds deposit from the institution determined by the Consulting Council for Migratory Policy of Ecuador.
In the three categories, the applicant will present the following additional documents:
- Visa application form
- Passport valid for at least 6 months;
- A Police Criminal Record Check document, from the State Police;
- A notarized medical certificate, stating that the applicant is free of contagious diseases including HIV;
- 2 Current passport size photos, in color with white backdrop;
- Visa fee of $200 US dollars;
- Certificate for amount of rent possessed;
If the applicant has additional family members who will be traveling along, an Economical Dependence Visa will be granted to them.

VISA 10 II. Real Estate and Securities Investor or Fiduciary Documents Investor |

The requirements to obtain this visa are:
Alternatives:
1.-Real Estate and or Stocks-real rights over them.
- Real State Property Deed and Title recorded in the Municipal Property Registry of Ecuador.
- Up-dated certificate of title clearance indicating that there is no liens affecting the property.
2.- Any kind of certificates or titles, including fiduciary documents granted by the private sector, bonds, and certificates of deposits, stocks, and obligations.
- Copy of the title or certificate of custody of the trust deposited at the Central Bank of Ecuador.
3.-Government Bonds or other institutions of the Public Sector
A certificate of deposit made in the Central Bank of Ecuador for purchase of Bonds to other public entities. The applicant will present the following additional documents:
- Visa application form
- Passport valid for at least 6 months;
- A Police Criminal Record Check document, from the State Police.
- A notarized medical certificate, stating that the applicant is free of contagious diseases including HIV.
- 2 current passport size photos in color, head frontal shot with white backdrop.
- Visa fee of $200 US dollars.
In the 3 preceding circumstances, the minimum investment should be, depending on the number of members in their family, an amount that would permit the interested party to live adequately. Consult the Ecuadorian consulate closest to your place of residency about this matter.
If the investment was perfected, it is required to present the justifying documents. If the investment was not perfected the applicant must guarantee it with a deposit in the Central Bank of Ecuador. If the immigrant does not justify the investment during the following 90 days since his arrival to Ecuador, the government will proceed to execute the guarantees stated in alternatives B and C.
If the applicant has additional family members who will be traveling along, an Economical Dependence Visa will be granted to them.

VISA 10 III. Investor in Agricultural, Livestock, Commerce and other industries |

The Investor in Agricultural, Livestock, Commerce and other industries Visa, class 10-III, involves investments in the fields of agricultural or livestock industry, in commerce, mining, or other businesses.
The requirements to obtain this visa are:
Alternatives:
1.-Companies
- Constitutive Contract or "Increase of Capital" registered at the Mercantile Registry.
2.-Partnership or Sole Proprietorship Company
- Certify copy of the Commercial Registry of the corporation, or of the partnership at the Mercantile Register and at the Registro Unico de Contribuyente -RUC- (Federal Tax registry).
- Business license granted by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Fishing.
- Agreement to comply with Article 32, numeral VI (6), of the rules and regulations determined by the Immigration Laws of Ecuador (Ley de Extranjeria). Consult with your nearest Consulate about this subject.
3.-Agricultural and/or Livestock Industry
- License granted by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Fishing
- Federal Tax registry.
- Property Deeds and Titles, Registered and Indemnified
- Membership with the Chamber of Agricultural or Chamber of the Livestock Industry.
- The minimum investment should be, depending on the number of members in their family, equivalent to that, which would permit the interested party to live adequately. For additional information on this subject consult your nearest Consulate.
If the investment was perfected, it is required to present the justifying documents. If the investment was not perfected the applicant must guarantee it with a deposit in the Central Bank of Ecuador. If the immigrant does not justify the investment during the following 180 days since his arrival to Ecuador, the government will proceed to execute the guarantees. VISA10- IV. Agent, Proxy, Legal Representative, Religious or Press correspondent |

This type of visa is issued to foreigners who are interested in working indefinitely administrative, technical or specialization in enterprises, institutions or entities established in the country.
The requirements to obtain this visa are:
Alternatives:
1.-Working Contract with Private Individuals or with Legal Entity
- Working contract for an indefinite time period.
- Authorization from Ecuador's Ministry of Labor.
2.-General Trustee or Legal Representative
IF THE TRUST IS CONFERRED BY A LEGAL ENTITY, DULY CONSTITUTED AND ADDRESS IN ECUADOR.
- General Power of Attorney for administration or legal representation, authorized by the General Board of Shareholders
- Appointment as the Company's Legal Representative.
- Certificate of incorporation of the company or the Amendment of Capital increase, duly registered.
- Certificate of fulfillment of obligations issued by the Superintendence of Companies or Banks, according to each case.
IF TRUST ISSUED BY A PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL, ECUADORIAN OR FOREIGNER WITH PERMANENT RESIDENCE IN ECUADOR.
- Certify copy of the Power of Attorney.
IF IT RELATES TO REAL ESTATE PROPERTIES:
- Property deed and Certification that the property is free of Mortgages and Liens.
IF IT RELATES TO A PRIVATE BUSINESS OR COMPANY
- Federal tax registry of Ecuador. Known as Registro Unico de Contribuyentes ( RUC)
- Business License granted by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Integration and Fishing.
- Authorization by the Ministry of Commerce, Integration and Fishing.
- Membership with the corresponding Chamber.
3.-Members of Organizations and Religious Orders, in accordance with The "Modus Vivendi" with The Holy See
- Certification of the Legal Representative, which proves that the foreigner belongs to an organization or religious Catholic Order and states the assignment that, will be performing in the country.
- Appointment of the Legal Representative of the Organization or Religious Order duly registered.
4.-Press Correspondent
- Certification from the Secretary of Public Communications of Ecuador accrediting the foreigner as a Press Correspondent.
In the four preceding categories, the applicant will present the following additional documents:
- Visa application form
- Passport valid for at least 6 months
- A Police Criminal Record Check document, from the State Police
- A notarized medical certificate, stating that the applicant is free of contagious diseases including HIV
- 2 current passport size photos in color, head frontal shot with white backdrop
- Visa fee of $200 US dollars
If the applicant has additional family members who will be traveling along, an Economical Dependence Visa will be granted to them.

VISA 10-V. Professional |

A foreign professional can request the Professional visa, 10-V, with a degree from a University, a Polytechnic or higher education institute. When the applicant is assisted by an International Agreement, it is required a certify copy of the document.
The diplomas granted by foreign universities must be translated and legalized by the corresponding Ecuadorian Consulate, and must carry the equivalence, the recognition or validation of an Ecuadorian institution of Superior Education.
The visa applicant will present the following additional documents:
- Visa application form
- Passport valid for at least 6 months
- Diploma, translated into Spanish, notarized and legalized at a consulate. (Cost US $10.00)
- A Police Criminal Record Check document, from the State Police.
- A notarized medical certificate, stating that the applicant is free of contagious diseases including HIV.
- 2 current passport size photos, in color with white backdrop.
- A fee of US $200 dollars.
If the applicant has additional family members who will be traveling along, an Economical Dependence Visa will be granted to them.

VISA 10-VI. Economical Dependence |

The Economical dependence Visa, class 10-VI may be requested by an Ecuadorian citizen for his foreign spouse, children, parent, grandparent, or sibling; in addition it is granted to the family members of foreigners who obtain the Visas from the following categories:
10-I; 10-II; 10-III; 10-IV and 10-V
The requirements are the following:
- Visa application form
- Passport valid for at least 6 months
- Ecuadorian identification of the person requesting the visa
- Marriage license, if the marriage took place abroad the license must be translated into Spanish, notarized and legalized at the Consulate. (Costs US $10.00 for each document)
- If the visa is requested for children, birth certificate translated into Spanish, notarized and legalized at the consulate. (Costs US $10.00 for each document)
- A document that accredits the Ecuadorian nationality of the spouse, father or mother. It is not needed for those who are aided by another type of Immigrant visa
- Economical Guaranty made before a Notary Public indicating that the foreigner will have sufficient funds for him or herself and their families for the permanence in Ecuador.
- A Police Criminal Record Check document, from the State Police Department. The applicant who is under the age of 18 must present a Certificate of Good Conduct issued by an educational institution.
- A notarized medical certificate, stating that the applicant is free of contagious diseases including HIV.
- A copy of the petitioners and beneficiary's passports if they are foreigners
- 2 current passport size photos, in color with white backdrop.
- A fee of $200 dollars.
