ECUADORIAN NATIONAL DAY - August 10, 2007In this historic date that celebrates our independence, I would like to send a warm greeting to all the Ecuadorian nationals who live in the United States. As we recall the heroic events of August 10, 1809, we must pay tribute not only to those historic heroes, but also to our present day men and women who work hard for Ecuador’s development. I pay my respect to those who migrate, leave their families, but keep strong ties with their homeland. Ecuador hasn’t forgotten its migrants. The Government sees after the respect of your rights and has given you now the right to vote. Do it responsibly! Ecuador needs committed men and women, who are willing to work together in the fight against poverty. We need to create jobs, attract investment and foster economic growth. We also need to educate our children and prepare them to face a global society. We need each and every Ecuadorian who’s proud to be so, and eager to contribute to the progress of our country. Sincerely, |
